Thank You! Since she was based somewhat on my late mother-in-law who was actually from England with a Molly-like personality, I just thought it fit. She and Arthur were two of my most favorite characters.
you know, i really love this drawing of mrs weasley... i love the aura which you gave her... you know, she looks so kind and motherly and affectionate, blah blah... but behind those eyes you see that she is suffering inside, what with all her worrying about percy not making it up with the family, and the danger surrounding their family... this is a really good one lisa (i take it that's your name?). keep it up
I had never heard of Brenda Fricker so I googled her name. She does look somewhat like my Molly! But this drawing was based on a photo of my late mother-in-law with some self-portrait thrown in for good measure.
Very much as I pictured her. Gorgeous shading and the eyes are stunning.
I really enjoy your work overall (saw it first niffed from FA). Arthur and Molly are 2 of my favorite characters and you've truly done them justice, such warmth in their eyes. Extraordinary. Do you use just regular pencils? or are they specialized pencils or charcoals? I can never control the shading when I use pencil I end up getting led all over my hands (and arms, and desk, and face, lol).
I also particularly loved your Percy, Winter Lupin, and young Tom pics.
So many of your pieces have similar face shapes (jaws/cheekbones/eye shapes) its as though they're all family. I think I could spot one of yours even if it wasn't signed. You mention you used an old family photo for inspiration on this one. Do you often use family photos or am I just imagining the similarities?
Hi! Thank you so much for all the wonderful comments on my artwork! I really do appreciate them all!
I use regular pencils-mostly 2b and for the darker shading 5, 6 and 8b. I'm lucky, for some reason I
seldom get the pencil all over except where I want it! Most of my models are based on people from adds and magazines that I collected because they had characteristics that I thought fit my mental image of the characters. But I have used family members and friends as models as well. This drawing of Molly is a combination of my late mother-in-law and myself. Neville is based on a photo of my son and I based two of my Ron drawings on a dear friend.
She's perfect! EEE! I was so excited when I saw this because you never see anyone draw Mrs. Weasley, for one, and she's practically dead on how I imagined her. Her features are so soft and she looks like she'd smile and give you a hug in an instant. Lovely drawing!!
Oh, thank you so much, that really means a lot to me! She was based on a bit of a combination of my wonderful late mother-in-law (who was English ) and me! I always considered myself the Molly type! *lol* Thanks for the fav too!
Aw, she looks so motherly. She doesn't look short, though. For some reason, I always envision her as one of those extremely short people but with an aura that commands obedience. Now I want to hug her!
You can tell if she's short or not from a portrait???! Well the 2 people she was based on (my late mother-in-law and myself) were/are not very tall. I'm only 5'3" and I think my mom-in-law was about 5'5". And I'll take that hug and give you one right back!
gosh i frickin' love her so much...the only thing i love more than Mrs. Weasley is dumbledoor...and ice cream. she is SO awesome!!! I wish I could draw like you. I actually did a nice drawing yesterday and today. you should take a look at it if you like. here is the link: [link] it is another Frodo drawing. i would be very much abliged (i have no idea if that is even how you spell it) if you commented on it. you are art hero!!!!
Thank you for your feedback on both Weasley parents As for Ginny, I actually do have a couple of drawings of her (old ones). They were based on fan-fiction although they could pass for canon. I might post the better one but I really must draw a new canon based
